NEW SERVICE “HOTEL SKIPASS SERVICE”

In order to make the purchase of the skipass more easy and convenient, from this winter season 2010/11 Dolomiti Superski offers a new service called “HOTEL SKIPASS SERVICE”. The customer can purchase the skipass for adults (except skipasses for juniors and seniors, free skipasses for children up to 8 years as well as 12 days in season and season skipasses), Dolomiti Superski or of each single ski area, on the following website: www.dolomitisuperski.com. Once the customer has bought the skipass by credit card, a code is sent to the booked accommodation. The host will collect the ski pass from the point of sell and deliver it to the customer at the hotel upon arrival, thus saving the guest an extra trip to the sales office. The hotels that provide this service will be marked with a small icon on the Dolomiti Superski website.

HOW THE SERVICE WORKS

The customer can purchase the adult skipass only (from 1 – 14 days, Dolomiti Superski or one single ski area) by credit card on the website www.dolomitisuperski.com under the menu item SKIPASS without any additional cost. Purchases may be made up to 48 hours prior to arrival in the booked hotel. In the booking form the customer indicates the establishment which is signed up to the initiative and which then will get a voucher containing a barcode. The host can pick up the skipasses at a skipass office by presenting the voucher, and hand them over the customer on arrival.

DOLOMITES DECLARED UNESCO “WORLD HERITAGE SITE”

“The world’s most beautiful mountains”. World-renowned mountaineers, writers, philosophers, architects and environmentalists have been saying it for centuries. But on Friday, June 26, in Seville, UNESCO officially declared it to be the case by naming the Dolomites as a World Heritage Site. The Dolomites now number among the 50 most beautiful landscapes in Europe and among the 199 most beautiful worldwide.

The Dolomites have been admitted to the exclusive club of those places that are blessed with the planet’s most stunning scenery. These Italian mountains have been added to the list thanks to their undeniable beauty, their unique geological composition and their wealth of flora (amounting to more than 2,400 different species). Specifically, UNESCO’s declaration encompasses all of the following: Marmolada, Catinaccio, Latemar (mostly in Val di Fassa) and Sciliar, Pale di San Martino, the Dolomiti di Brenta, Cadini and the Dolomiti di Sesto, the Dolomiti di Fanes, Sennes and Braies, Puez-Odle, Rio delle Foglie, Pelmo and Croda da Lago, Pale di San Lucano and the Dolomiti Bellunesi, the Dolomiti Friulane and d’Oltre Piave.

In total, the declaration covers an area of 142,000 hectares, cushioned by a further 90,000 hectares, located within the provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Belluno, Udine and Pordenone.

Now, alongside the pleasure of exploring for the first time or returning to the “Monti Pallidi”, there is also the awareness that you are experiencing a real privilege. Another delight is witnessing what the Ladin people call “Enrosadira” – the phenomenon that occurs at sunrise and sunset when the rays of the sun strike the Dolomitic rock, endowing it with an array of bright colours stretching from orange to violet. This unique natural spectacle was just another of the motivating factors for UNESCO’s momentous decision to declare the area in which the Dolomites are located a World Heritage Site.

Hotel Ladina does its bit for society

“offering a week of peace and quiet to those affected by the earthquake”

The Riz family have signed up to a charitable initiative whereby they are offering a week’s full-board accommodation in the hotel, during the months of June or September, to one of the families affected by the earthquake in 2009. This short respite is an attempt to provide those who have suffered with a week of peace and quiet, optimism and hope.

Hotel Ladina does its bit for the environment

The hotel has recently signed an agreement with DOC Service with a view to attaining ECOLABEL certification. The Ecolabel system is a voluntary tool for use when drafting environmental policies. It is geared towards incentivising the release onto the market of products and services that, during their life cycle, have lower levels of environmental impact than those that are currently available.
